Happy Holidays folks!!! I know it's been a while but as I've stated to some that have asked...hasn't been too much to blog about...but that has all changed. You've waited very patiently (some not so patiently) and it's finally paid off...the day has finally arrived...wait for it...wait for it...BOTH Life and Limb & Limb and Life will be tapped at Prime 16 on Tuesday January 12th at 7:00pm. Alongside these much anticipated colaborations will be two other selections from Sierra Nevada and Dogfish Head (1each) as well as representatives from both breweries to answer any and all of your questions.
~Much anticiapted tapping #2...not sure how so many of you heard about this already but Prime 16 will be tapping a cask of Cherry and Vanilla infused Imperial Stout Trooper from New England Brewing Co. sometime in the next week or so. There has not been an exact date chosen yet but keep an eye on the website for more information. And when you see it...be here!!! This definitely will not last long kids (we're talking hours here)
~Just a few other things in the works ie. keep an eye out for
~Victory Yakima Twilight
~Brew Dog Brewing Co.
~River Horse Brewing
~an ever expanding cask selection as the next few weeks pass...
We wish you a very Safe and Happy New Year!!!

Happy 2 days before Halloween folks. Just a quick update about a few exciting things going on at Prime 16.
#1 Wednesday 10/28, aka yesterday, we tapped a 30L of My Antonia. For those of you that aren't familiar with this beer...from the Dogfish Head website "Sam brewed My Antonia at Birra del Borgo (hope you can read Italian) outside Rome, Italy with owner/brewer Leonardo DiVencenzo in October of 2008.
My Antonia (named after the Willa Cather read), is a continually-hopped imperial pilsner. This beer was brewed and distributed by Birra del Borgo. A small quantity was sent over to the United States." The small quantity they speak of is 28 kegs. That's right, as far as we know, there are 28 kegs in the entire country and we have one of them so get your beer lovin' butts down and try some before it's gone.
#2 On the subject of Dogfish Head...as stated in the last post, we are planning something big with the Dogfish Sierra Nevada collaborations "Life and Limb" and "Limb and Life". As it is looking right now, we are shooting for sometime in early December. Keep your eyes and ears open...

Against my better judgement I've returned from the island of Oahu. I now understand why so many people never return. Sun=great, surf=great, Maui Coconut Porter=sweet but definitely good. But enough about me, lets talk about whats going on in the world of Prime 16...
Lets start with the "special" things. There are a few beers we've had or will be having that are definitely worth the trip. For those of you that missed the Dogfish Ancient Ales and the Sierra Nevada Estate...I'm sorry. We do have another Sah'Tea in da house but we'll be saving that for a rainy day. If we get any of the others you'll definitely hear about it. As for the much anticipated Dogfish and Sierra collaborations...the Limb and Life is scheduled for early to mid November and the Life and Limb should be a couple of weeks after. The plan for the two (as of now) is to have a special night of collaboration. Both beers on tap as well as a Sierra Seasonal and a Dogfish seasonal with representatives from both breweries in attendance. I'm thinkin there may be some cheese involved as well. Keep an eye out for this one.
Belgians your thing? There is now even more to choose from. Thanks to Lanny Hoff at Artisanal Imports and the fine folks at Drinx Unlimited we will now be throwing Kwak, Karmeleit Tripel and Urthel into the mix with even more to come in the future.
So if you're like Bob or myself, this is one of your favorite times of year because no one looks at you funny when you polish off an entire pumpkin pie like it's going out of style. While there won't be pumpkin pie available daily we will be featuring pumpkin ales until the end of November. Weyerbacher Imperial, Southern Tier, Smuttynose, Shipyard...just to name a few.
On a final note folks, just a few more up and comings to keep you eyes peeled for...
Brooklyn Manhattan Project
Sierra Nevada Wet Hop
Great Divide Fresh Hop
Sierra Nevada Stout
Smuttynose Big A Ipa
New England Brewing Co Double IPA
Old Engine Oil

Long time, no blog, I know. For those of you that have been in, you know why...for those of you that haven't...I spent a week away working at a Pediatric Oncology camp and came home only to have 9 teeth pulled out but the stitches came out this morning so I'm back at it.
I've been teasing you long enough. If you haven't seen it on the website/beeradvocate/our front window STONE IS FINALLY OFFICIAL!!! We will be leading off the state wide kick off parties on Tuesday September 22 from 6-9pm. As of right now it looks like I'll be putting the Vertical Epic 9/9/09, the "12th" Anniversary, the Ruination and the Levitation on draft and The AB in bottles. No more messin' around folks. The state of CT finally pulled its head out of its ass and the red tape is filled and done with. I appologize for all the delays but I've been lead along as much as you.
On a more current note. Till supplies last (and that won't be for very long) I have one draft line dedicated to Dogfish Head Ancient Ales. The Theobroma is done and gone but the Chateau is up now and will be followed by Midas Touch and then Sah'Tea. I may just have a second Sah'Tea and may just hold onto it for a bit and you may just see it go on around the holidays...I'm just sayin'.
And finally kids...if Belgians are your thing, I met with an importer on Friday night who has some pretty exciting (and delicious) things coming into the state in the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned for details...

There's a new planet orbiting backwards, Les Paul passed away and there are coyotes loose in New Haven but Prime 16 is still pluggin' away. Aside from Obamas visit to New Hampshire ruining a tour of Smuttynose, all is well in the world of beer. Again, no new news on Stone...still just aticipation at this point. In related news, the supposed release of Goose Island in Ct has been put on the back burner till 2k10 and as for 21st Ammendment, still just a rumor.
Some new beers I DO have...Sierra Nevada Anniversary, Dogfish Sah"Tea, Midas Touch, Theobroma and Chateau Jiahu and I'm expecting some other Sierra specials in the near future.
Also, it's almost "that" time of year again...Oktoberfest and Pumpkin season. I'll be ordering plenty of each in the next month or so. The plan is to run at least one line dedicated to pumpkin till Thanksgiving and as for the OF...we'll just have to wait and see.
One final note...for those of you that know our beloved bartender Caitlin...her birthday celebration will be this coming wednesday at Prime 16. Not only will there be a FREE Unibroue tasting but I'll also be throwing a Midas Touch and Weyerbacher Double Simcoe on the lines (they're her two favorites) so stop down, try some Unibroues and have a drink with us...

Well folks, not too much to write about this week. It's been a slow week for new things in the New Haven world of beer. Just in case you missed it...Stone is coming to CT! The tentative date for the Prime kickoff is Tuesday Aug 25th. I'll know more this week including what brews we'll be offering. I also have in house some rare logs of some Dogfish Head deliciousness...Midas Touch, Sah'Tea, Theobrama and Chateau Jiauh. Keep an eye out. I'm planning on a tasting with these along with a mead and some "ancient" cheeses. Not old and moldy, but old styles and properly molded...like, it's supposed to be like that.
